About SnippetBox
SnippetBox is a free, open-source tool for sharing code snippets and files instantly — no account, no login, no friction. Paste your code, get a short URL, share it with anyone.
Why SnippetBox?
Most code sharing tools either require you to create an account or strip away formatting. SnippetBox gives you Markdown rendering with live syntax highlighting and file uploads in one place, completely anonymously.
- No account required — create and share in seconds
- Markdown support — write formatted content with headings, lists, tables, and code blocks
- Syntax highlighting for Ruby, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Go, Rust, SQL, and 15+ more languages
- File uploads — attach up to 5 files (5MB each) alongside your snippet
- Custom URLs — choose a memorable slug or get a random short link
- Automatic expiration — shares expire after your chosen time (1 hour to never)
- Fork & edit — copy any share and make it your own
How it works
- Write your content using Markdown — code blocks, headings, links, and more
- Optionally upload files (PDFs, images, spreadsheets, source files)
- Choose a custom URL or let SnippetBox generate a short one
- Share the link — your snippet is immediately available, no account needed
- Edit your share within 30 days using the edit cookie stored in your browser
Privacy & Data
SnippetBox stores only what you share: your text content, uploaded files, and an edit token (saved as a browser cookie) that lets you update your share. Shares automatically expire and are permanently deleted after your chosen duration.
